Biking in Madeira is one of the most privileged ways to get in touch with some of the hidden mountain nooks in this region.
The trail that connects Chão das Aboboreiras to Poiso is a good example of this.
With a total length of 4.09 km, it offers bikers an immersive experience in the mountain landscape of Madeira's south coast.
Although the trail is considered easy, its technical characteristics make it unsuitable for people who are just starting out in the activity.
The Poiso - Chão das Aboboreiras trail can be completed in about 30 minutes.
Throughout its extension, it has some areas with little unevenness, in dirt or grass.
However, it also has steeper and technically more demanding areas, with some roots. There is also a quarry area.
On this trail, athletes reach a maximum altitude of 1405 metres.
On the other hand, the minimum altitude is 1058 metres.
Arriving at Chão das Aboboreiras, at the end of the trail, bikers can enjoy the green surroundings, with species such as the Til, laurel, heather and oak.
