Portela á Vista
Right up on the hill, with breath-taking landscapes, you can drink great ponchas [traditional drink] and enjoy real regional food.
It's a restaurant with a bar at an altitude of around 670 metres, with a viewpoint from where, in good weather, you can see the northern coast of the island and Pico Ruivo, which is the highest point in Madeira, and even the island of Porto Santo. But, above all, enjoy the incredible beauty of the Laurel forest and breathe that fresh air. It whets the appetite for the regional dishes that are served there: tomato soup with boiled egg, scabbard fish fillet and the meats on the embers, like the chicken on a skewer and the Madeiran skewer. Of the various desserts, the highlights are the almond pudding and the passion fruit pudding. An excellent wine list, very complete, with good presence of Madeiran wines. At the end, you can always enjoy a delicious Madeiran poncha.
