Ribeiro Salgado Beach is one of the best known of Porto Santo's long golden sandy beach. It's located in front of two hotels. For this reason, it is mostly frequented by tourists, who come here to enjoy the fine sands and warm waters that have made this island famous all over the world.
In addition to its fine sand and inviting water temperature, which varies between 24 °C and 25 °C in summer, this beach is also attractive because of the medicinal properties of its sand: these sands are highly recommended for people suffering from rheumatic or orthopaedic problems. And as if that wasn't enough, it also has the 'Blue Flag' beach award, which guarantees its standards of excellence.
The Ribeiro Salgado Beach includes a 100-metre concession for the Hotel Pestana Porto Santo and an identical one for the Hotel Pestana Colombos. The connection between the beach and the hotel gardens is made by wooden walkways between the dunes. Access to the support infrastructures is through Pestana Porto Santo, where it is possible to access the sanitary facilities, a bar and a terrace with a panoramic view over the Atlantic.
