The island of Madeira, because of its privileged geographical position and mountainous relief, have a surprisingly mild climate.Very mild average temperatures, 25ºC in the summer and 17ºC in the winter, and a moderate level of humidity, confer upon this island exceptional subtropical features.
The seawater temperature is also very mild, because of the influence of the warm Gulf current, presenting averages of 22ºC in the summer and 18º in the winter.

The village of Ponta do Sol promotes on the 27th August, this festival, an initiative promoted by the Ponta do Sol Folklore Group, in collaboration with the local Municipal Council.

Folklore Festival will involve some of the regional folklore groups, as well as foreign and other national folklore groups.
