The island of Madeira, because of its privileged geographical position and mountainous relief, have a surprisingly mild climate.Very mild average temperatures, 25ºC in the summer and 17ºC in the winter, and a moderate level of humidity, confer upon this island exceptional subtropical features.
The seawater temperature is also very mild, because of the influence of the warm Gulf current, presenting averages of 22ºC in the summer and 18º in the winter.
The Forest and Nature Conservation Institute, IP-RAM (IFCN, IP-RAM) informs that all the recommended walking paths in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, as well as the respective support infrastructures, from December 4th onwards, will be closed due to the weather conditions that will affect the Region.
In an official statement dated March 13th, and in relation to the airports of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, the Madeira Regional Government has determined the cessation, as soon as possible, of flights originating in all countries with positive cases and referred by the WHO with active community transmission. For this purpose, essential contacts have already been made with the National Government for the implementation of this measure, awaiting only authorization from the National Authorities.
Subsequently to Madeira’s Regional Government communication from 11.3.2020, about the recommendation measures to take into account about the COVID-19, it was decided to suspend all exceptional and/or international school, sport, cultural, scientific and other events, scheduled for March and April.
The TIDE project is an INTERREG Atlantic Area financing program. It focuses on the sustainable development of onshore and underwater sites of historical interest on the Atlantic coastline with the aim to create an Atlantic Network for Developing Historical Maritime Tourism and to help develop new tourism product.

Madeira won, for the fifth consecutive time, the “World Travel Awards” for "Best Island Destination in the World", at the Grand Final Gala ceremony held today, 28 November, in the city of Muscat, Oman. More than a dozen regional, national and international speakers took part in the initiative, which took place on 3 October in the Casino's Blue Room. As part of the Nature Festival, the aim was to exchange the experiences and knowledge of speakers related to the activities that can be practiced in Madeira and Porto Santo throughout the year.
