Madeira reelected the World’s Leading Island Destination 2022
For the eighth consecutive year, Madeira is elected by the World Travel Awards as the World´s Leading Island Destination 2022, in those that are considered to be the“ Oscars of tourism ”, a ceremony held today, 11 November, in the city of Muscat, Oman.
Madeira competed in this category alongside other internationally renowned tourist destinations such as:  namely:  Aitutaki (Cook Islands), Ambergris Caye (Belize), Bali (Indonesia), Barbados, Bora Bora (French Polynesia), Cozumel (Mexico), Crete (Greece), Fiji, Hawaii, Holbox Island (Mexico), Isla Mujeres (Mexico), Jamaica, Maldives, Mallorca (Spain), Maurititus,.Saint Lucia, Sardinia and Sicily (Italy), Seychelles, Siargao (Philippines), Turks and Caicos Islands, and Zanzibar (Tanzania).
With a secular tradition in the tourism sector, Madeira is a destination that stands out for its natural beauty, the hospitality of its people and the excellence of its service offer, both accommodation and complementary.
Created in 1993, the World Travel Awards are held once a year and aim to recognize, reward and celebrate excellence in all sectors of the tourism industry on a global scale.
