Madeira once again nominated for "Europe’s Leading Island Destination" 2022
Other top tourist destinations compete in this category, namely the Azores, Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Crete (Greece), Cyclades - Aegean Islands (Greece), Cyprus, Guernsey, Jersey, Malta, Sardinia and Sicily (Italy), in a voting procedure which will take place until the 8th of August.
Madeira Destination has already won the award for "Europe’s Leading Island Destination" eight times, and the award for "World’s Leading Island Destination" seven times.
Created in 1993, the World Travel Awards are considered the tourism ‘Oscars’ and aim at annually recognizing, rewarding and celebrating excellence in all sectors of the tourism industry on a global scale.
In addition to this nomination, Madeira is also competing in other categories, namely “Europe’s Leading Beach Destination” (Porto Santo), “Europe’s Leading Adventure Tourism Destination” and “Europe’s Leading Festival and Event Destination”.
