Ryanair operates from Madeira and launches ten new routes
The Irish airline Ryanair makes its debut in the Region, starting next March, with the launching of a new operational air base in Madeira in an estimated investment of 178 million euros, creating 60 direct jobs.
In Madeira, the low-cost company will offer a total of ten air routes, including five new direct destinations and 40 weekly frequencies, with special reference to the Lisbon connections, with two daily flights, and to Porto with one daily flight.
Among the various routes available on the company's website, there are other destinations such as Brussels (Charleroi), Dublin, London (Stansted), Manchester, Marseilles, Nuremberg, Paris (Beauvais) and Milan (Bergamo).
In total, an additional 350,000 seats will be made available per year, resulting in a 22% increase in passenger transport linking the region to key domestic and foreign markets, thus boosting the tourism sector, one of the main economic drivers of the region.
Madeira therefore becomes the company's fifth base in national territory, after Lisbon, Porto, Faro and Ponta Delgada.
