Doca do Cavacas

The various natural swimming pools of volcanic origin that exist in the archipelago of Madeira are privileged points of contact with the Atlantic Ocean, which can be found on both the north and south coasts of the island. In the city of Funchal, right on the Seafront Public Promenade, there is a bathing complex where you can combine the unique sensation of swimming in a volcanic pool, with a beautiful and unforgettable visual spectacle.

Called by some 'Poças do Gomes', Doca do Cavacas is a small bathing complex located between Lido and Formosa Beach, with a natural swimming pool of volcanic origin and also direct access to the sea. But the sea is not the only entity transforming this place into a true bathing paradise. From the west side of Doca do Cavacas' natural swimming pools, there is a stimulating view over the highest cape in Europe (Cabo Girão) and also over Formosa Beach.

The Doca do Cavacas Bathing Complex offers excellent conditions for a perfect day at the beach, all year round. It is equipped with showers, toilets, changing rooms and a bar.
