The island of Madeira, because of its privileged geographical position and mountainous relief, have a surprisingly mild climate.Very mild average temperatures, 25ºC in the summer and 17ºC in the winter, and a moderate level of humidity, confer upon this island exceptional subtropical features.
The seawater temperature is also very mild, because of the influence of the warm Gulf current, presenting averages of 22ºC in the summer and 18º in the winter.
The European Best Destinations Organization, an organization under the European Commission, which promotes culture and tourism at European level, recently distinguished, in the “Best Beaches in Europe” category, two beaches in the region in the top 5, namely, the beaches of Porto Santo (1st place) and Seixal (3rd place), in a selection that elected the 22 most voted beaches by travellers from around the world.
