The Port of Funchal, as the name suggests, is located in the capital of the archipelago, in the city of Funchal.
For many decades, since the Port of Funchal was built in the 19th century and until the Second World War, Funchal was a very convenient stop point for steamers making transatlantic crossings between the European, African and American continents.
Currently, this port offers a passenger terminal with excellent conditions to welcome, comfortably, safely and with quality, the hundreds of thousands of cruisers who, every year, visit the region on cruise ships.
Due to its location, it has a privileged access to the city centre, being only two minutes away from the main attractions by car and allowing travellers to explore the capital of the archipelago, even in a short time. Furthermore, the image that grows in front of us as we approach Funchal, aboard a large ship, is unrivalled.
In 2022, the Island of Madeira was elected the Best Cruise Destination in Europe by the World Cruise Awards, an entity that recognised the Port of Funchal, besides the Island.
