Quinta Magnólia Garden

Let's travel back to the first half of the 19th century, when a wealthy Funchal merchant, J. Howard March, decided to build an estate, named 'Quinta Magnólia', in the noble area of the Lido. The property, which has since been owned by several owners, was finally acquired in 1980 by the Regional Government. Today, the Quinta Magnólia Garden is open to the public, where you can enjoy its undeniable elegance.

This green space, which occupies an area of around 35,000 m², boasts a wide range of botanical species from all over the world. Benefiting from Funchal's characteristic subtropical climate, these exotic trees and plants thrive all year round.

The Quinta Magnólia Garden underwent extensive renovation, both in its exterior spaces and gardens and in the main building, the 'mother house', as well as the sports facilities. The tennis courts, the squash court and the maintenance circuit were remodelled, and three paddle courts and support areas for the various activities were also created.

In addition, the Quinta Magnólia Garden currently has a children's playground, a new restaurant/bar service and a temporary exhibition room, integrated in the 'mother house'.
