Marmeleiros Viewpoint

The strategic position of the Marmeleiros Viewpoint, located at a point overlooking the city of Funchal, offers you a privileged view over the city that occupies the entire length of the hillside, with the Atlantic Ocean in the background.

The Marmeleiros Viewpoint belongs to the parish of Monte. We should note that Monte is home to some of the island's most surprising palaces and gardens, giving it a romantic and elegant atmosphere. It is exactly this setting, also marked by an abundance of natural elements, that visitors find when they arrive at this spot at Estrada dos Marmeleiros.

Located at an altitude of 383 metres, the Marmeleiros Viewpoint has an unobstructed view over the capital of the archipelago of Madeira. The panorama is dominated by the cosmopolitan profile of the city of Funchal, with particular emphasis on its bay - one of the most iconic points of this Atlantic island.

Built in 1939, this observatory can be found near the Marmeleiros Hospital, which has been in operation since 1930. This spot, which has shade and benches, invites visitors to enjoy relaxing moments of contemplation and interaction, with the majesty of its landscape taking centre stage.
